Located south of Seattle, this public utility serves 150,000 residents across two cities, providing essential water and sewer services. The utility manages a vast network of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, operating multiple treatment facilities.
The utility needed to migrate their SharePoint 2007 environment to the modern M365 experience. Their SharePoint 2007 intranet was no longer supported by Microsoft, increasing security risks and prompting the need for an upgrade. In addition to addressing these risks, the utility aimed to reduce the overhead of managing an on-premises environment and create a mobile-friendly intranet for their field workers. They approached Pico Logic to migrate their environment and modernize their SharePoint environment with the Microsoft Cloud.
The utility's goals were:
- Accelerate staff onboarding and training to minimize business impact
- Ensure all staff have seamless access to key information across any device, anytime, anywhere
- Enhance IT staff expertise to support continuous development
- Migrate legacy SharePoint on-premises sites to SharePoint Online
The utility was restricted by:
- No experience with M365 SharePoint Administration
- Cautious approach to change
- Preference for selective use of M365 licenses
- Hesitancy in adopting OneDrive, due to existing workflow preferences
- Budget constraints requiring careful allocation of resources
Our Solution:
Pico Logic developed a plan for discovery, migration and long-term sustainability.
